Did you know a minifridge with microwave is considered standard residential room furniture? Beginning in Fall 2022, Housing Services added one minifridge with microwave unit to all residential rooms* as part of University provided furniture in the residence halls. The University also provides a Twin XL bed, desk, desk chair, 3-drawer dresser, and a closet or wardrobe. To help you and your student pack for arrival in August, Housing Services put together a suggested packing list (online and printable)!
When making final decisions on what to bring to campus, there are a few things we recommend considering:
- Talk to your roommate! It is a good idea for roommates to chat about who can bring which items that will be shared in the room and avoid duplicate items.
- Less is more! There is a Target and Walmart near campus for last minute items and items that can be purchased after seeing the space in the room.
- The beds can be raised to provide a 30 inch clearance underneath for storage! Storage bins, totes, and even the University provided dresser can fit under the bed to best utilize space.
- Bring a few decorations and pictures to make the room feel like home!
Feel free to reach out to us at cua-housing@cua.edu if you have any questions about packing for college and living in the residence halls! We can't wait to meet you in August!
*Only exception are the Millennium apartment rooms since there is a full-size refrigerator within the apartment unit.
